A CRITICAL DISCOURSE ANALYSIS OF THE SONG “MAGHINTAY KA LAMANG” BY Ted Ito

ABSTRACT : This study presents a Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) of the song “Maghintay Ka Lamang” performed by Ted Ito. The purpose of this analysis is to examine how language in the song conveys messages of hope, perseverance, and resilience in the face of life‟s challenges. Using critical discourse analysis, the study explores how the lyrics encourage listeners to remain patient and hopeful despite hardships. The findings reveal that the song promotes positive values such as determination, emotional strength, and optimism. Furthermore, the discourse of the song reflects common cultural beliefs in Filipino society regarding patience, faith in the future, and the importance of perseverance.
